Service Description
Infection Control Updates Course Description: This course provides dental professionals with a comprehensive review of current infection prevention and control principles applicable to the dental setting. The course examines methods used to reduce the transmission of infectious agents and promote a safe clinical environment for patients and dental healthcare personnel. Participants will review the chain of infection, Standard Precautions, hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), respiratory hygiene, safe injection practices, instrument processing, sterilization monitoring, environmental surface cleaning and disinfection, and dental unit water quality. The course also examines occupational exposure prevention and the responsibilities of the dental team in maintaining effective infection prevention protocols. Emphasis is placed on recognizing infection risks, applying evidence-based infection prevention practices, and reinforcing appropriate infection control procedures within the dental setting. Upon Completion of This Course, Participants Will Be Able To: • Describe the chain of infection and identify methods used to interrupt disease transmission. • Explain the principles of Standard Precautions in the dental setting. • Identify appropriate hand hygiene and personal protective equipment practices. • Discuss respiratory hygiene and safe injection practices. • Describe appropriate instrument cleaning, packaging, sterilization, and storage procedures. • Explain methods used to monitor sterilization effectiveness. • Discuss environmental surface cleaning and disinfection practices. • Identify infection prevention considerations related to dental unit water quality. • Recognize the dental team's role in maintaining effective infection prevention and control protocols. Registration, Course Policies & Refund Policy Registration: Advance registration and full payment are required to reserve a seat. Registration is confirmed upon receipt of payment and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the course reaches capacity. Payment: Payment is due at the time of registration unless otherwise specified. Registration is not guaranteed until payment has been received. Participant Cancellation: Written cancellation requests received 7 or more calendar days before the course will receive a full refund. Requests received 3–6 calendar days before the course may transfer registration one time to another available course within 90 days. Cancellations received less than 72 hours before the course and no-shows are not eligible for a refund. Course Cancellation: The Institute for Allied Professionals reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course due to low enrollment, instructor illness, or unforeseen circumstances. If a course is canceled, participants may transfer to another course or receive a full refund. The Institute is not responsible for travel, lodging, or other incidental expenses. Refund Policy: Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method within 7–10 business days. Refunds are not issued after self-study materials have been accessed or after attendance has been recorded in a live course. Attendance: Participants must complete the required instructional time and participate in all required course activities to receive continuing education credit. Late arrival, extended absence, or early departure may affect eligibility for a Certificate of Completion. Certificates of Completion: Certificates of Completion are issued after successful completion of all course requirements, including attendance, required assessments, and course evaluations, when applicable. Virtual Learning Requirements: Participants attending virtual courses are responsible for having reliable internet access, a compatible device, and the ability to access the online learning platform. Technical issues related to a participant's equipment or internet connection do not qualify for a refund. Participant Conduct: Participants are expected to maintain professional and respectful behavior throughout the educational activity. Disruptive conduct may result in dismissal from the course without a refund. Accommodation Requests: Participants requesting reasonable accommodations should contact the Institute before the course date.
