Service Description
Course Description Stay current with federal safety regulations and patient privacy requirements by attending this comprehensive in-person training designed specifically for dental professionals. This interactive course reviews the latest OSHA standards, Bloodborne Pathogens requirements, and HIPAA regulations that every dental office must follow to maintain a safe, compliant, and professional workplace. Participants will learn how to recognize workplace hazards, prevent occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), implement exposure control plans, and respond appropriately to exposure incidents. The course also covers infection prevention strategies, hazard communication, emergency preparedness, and documentation requirements. The HIPAA portion of the program focuses on protecting patient privacy, safeguarding protected health information (PHI), understanding the Privacy Rule and Security Rule, preventing data breaches, and maintaining compliance with current federal regulations. Real-world dental office scenarios and case studies are incorporated throughout the training to reinforce practical application. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Explain current OSHA regulations applicable to dental practices. Identify bloodborne pathogens and methods of disease transmission. Implement Standard Precautions and Transmission-Based Precautions. Properly select and use personal protective equipment (PPE). Develop and maintain an OSHA Exposure Control Plan. Understand hazard communication requirements and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Respond appropriately to occupational exposure incidents. Describe engineering and work practice controls that reduce workplace hazards. Explain HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules. Protect patient confidentiality and secure electronic protected health information (ePHI). Identify common HIPAA violations and strategies to prevent them. Apply OSHA and HIPAA requirements to everyday dental office procedures. Registration, Course Policies & Refund Policy Registration: Advance registration and full payment are required to reserve a seat. Registration is confirmed upon receipt of payment and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the course reaches capacity. Payment: Payment is due at the time of registration unless otherwise specified. Registration is not guaranteed until payment has been received. Participant Cancellation: Written cancellation requests received 7 or more calendar days before the course will receive a full refund. Requests received 3–6 calendar days before the course may transfer registration one time to another available course within 90 days. Cancellations received less than 72 hours before the course and no-shows are not eligible for a refund. Course Cancellation: The Institute for Allied Professionals reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course due to low enrollment, instructor illness, or unforeseen circumstances. If a course is canceled, participants may transfer to another course or receive a full refund. The Institute is not responsible for travel, lodging, or other incidental expenses. Refund Policy: Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method within 7–10 business days. Refunds are not issued after self-study materials have been accessed or after attendance has been recorded in a live course. Attendance: Participants must complete the required instructional time and participate in all required course activities to receive continuing education credit. Late arrival, extended absence, or early departure may affect eligibility for a Certificate of Completion. Certificates of Completion: Certificates of Completion are issued after successful completion of all course requirements, including attendance, required assessments, and course evaluations, when applicable. Virtual Learning Requirements: Participants attending virtual courses are responsible for having reliable internet access, a compatible device, and the ability to access the online learning platform. Technical issues related to a participant's equipment or internet connection do not qualify for a refund. Participant Conduct: Participants are expected to maintain professional and respectful behavior throughout the educational activity. Disruptive conduct may result in dismissal from the course without a refund. Accommodation Requests: Participants requesting reasonable accommodations should contact the Institute before the course date.
