Service Description
OSHA & Bloodborne Pathogens Standard Review Course Description: This course provides dental professionals with a comprehensive review of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and workplace safety principles applicable to the dental setting. The course examines occupational exposure risks, exposure control measures, hazard communication, and workplace practices designed to reduce the risk of exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Participants will review personal protective equipment (PPE), engineering and work practice controls, sharps safety, exposure control plans, exposure incident procedures, housekeeping, regulated waste management, employee training, and required documentation. The course also examines employer and employee responsibilities in supporting a safe and compliant dental work environment. Emphasis is placed on recognizing occupational hazards, applying appropriate exposure prevention strategies, and reinforcing workplace safety practices within the dental office. Upon Completion of This Course, Participants Will Be Able To: • Describe the purpose and key requirements of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. • Identify common occupational exposure risks within the dental setting. • Explain the appropriate use and selection of personal protective equipment (PPE). • Differentiate between engineering controls and work practice controls used to reduce occupational exposure. • Discuss sharps safety and strategies for preventing needlestick and other exposure incidents. • Describe appropriate procedures following an occupational exposure incident. • Explain the purpose and components of an exposure control plan. • Discuss housekeeping, regulated waste management, hazard communication, and workplace safety practices. • Identify employer and employee responsibilities related to OSHA training, documentation, and occupational safety. Registration, Course Policies & Refund Policy Registration: Advance registration and full payment are required to reserve a seat. Registration is confirmed upon receipt of payment and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the course reaches capacity. Payment: Payment is due at the time of registration unless otherwise specified. Registration is not guaranteed until payment has been received. Participant Cancellation: Written cancellation requests received 7 or more calendar days before the course will receive a full refund. Requests received 3–6 calendar days before the course may transfer registration one time to another available course within 90 days. Cancellations received less than 72 hours before the course and no-shows are not eligible for a refund. Course Cancellation: The Institute for Allied Professionals reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course due to low enrollment, instructor illness, or unforeseen circumstances. If a course is canceled, participants may transfer to another course or receive a full refund. The Institute is not responsible for travel, lodging, or other incidental expenses. Refund Policy: Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method within 7–10 business days. Refunds are not issued after self-study materials have been accessed or after attendance has been recorded in a live course. Attendance: Participants must complete the required instructional time and participate in all required course activities to receive continuing education credit. Late arrival, extended absence, or early departure may affect eligibility for a Certificate of Completion. Certificates of Completion: Certificates of Completion are issued after successful completion of all course requirements, including attendance, required assessments, and course evaluations, when applicable. Virtual Learning Requirements: Participants attending virtual courses are responsible for having reliable internet access, a compatible device, and the ability to access the online learning platform. Technical issues related to a participant's equipment or internet connection do not qualify for a refund. Participant Conduct: Participants are expected to maintain professional and respectful behavior throughout the educational activity. Disruptive conduct may result in dismissal from the course without a refund. Accommodation Requests: Participants requesting reasonable accommodations should contact the Institute before the course date.
